Worked calculation
Example: an 82% current grade with a final worth 30%
A student has 82% on the completed 70% of a course and wants an 85% overall grade. Completed work contributes 57.4 points. The target needs 85 points, leaving 27.6 points for the final. 27.6 ÷ 0.30 = 92%.

What if the calculator says I need more than 100%?
Under the values entered, the target is not attainable through the final alone. Check for extra credit, other remaining work or a data-entry mistake.
What if the required score is below zero?
The target is already mathematically secured even with a zero on the final, although completing the assessment may still be required.
Can I use points instead of percentages?
This version assumes weighted percentages. For a points-based course, first calculate the points still available and the total points needed.
Does this predict my official grade?
No. It calculates a scenario from the values entered. Your syllabus, gradebook rules and instructor determine the official result.
